Default The new inscriptions "Show me the Money" and "Measure for Measure" = nerfs ? :I

I think these two new measures are kind of novel and the Measure for Measure inscription may be useful but I feel that they're really just nerfs. Instead of being guarenteed of always getting even a somewhat useful inscription there's now a chance for these to spawn on gold weapons. The very first rare drop I had was a req 9 Ivory Hammer with this mod on it. Other people in my guild and in towns have been getting them often now.

So is this really a nerf or will something useful come out of it?

Measure for Measure: Highly Salvegeable
Show me the Money: Precious

I can see both of them being useful.

Measure for Measure: Pull one off some crappy blue, put it on some ruby daggers and up your chances of getting a 4k+ ruby.

Show me the Money: Pull one off some crappy blue, put it on a crappy gold, or even a good one you'll never use, and get a much better chunk of change from the merchant.

I agree with Neurotox, thats how i would use these 2 mods myself as well personally to gain more buck from the vendor trash.

I'd rather find either of those 2 instead of a non-maxed inscription of any kind. They'll certainly be worth more. A few weeks from now, all you'll get for a non-maxed inscriptions is 25 gold at the merchant.

Only problem is that it's very rare for crappu blues to have an inscription. They most often appear on purples and golds, which makes them very rare.

Well if someone has high ranks in the wisdom/treasure hunter title tracks and can salvage without destroying things; they can just get one "measure for measure" inscription, put it on ruby daggers or whatever, salvage off a ruby, salvage the inscription off again, and sell the daggers to the merchant.

Normal Inscriptions and non max ones are common on blues, only max inscriptions like 15^50 or 20<50 are found exlcusively on purple and gold items. Traditionally looking at drops history, the mods: "highly salvagable" and "precious" appear more on blue drops that may or maynot be max damage more frequently then they do on purple/gold items. But of course this maybe due to blue item to purple/gold drop ratio is higher. But from past experience, these two mod types should appear more common in blue items, hence making it viable to perform the task you quoted for profit.

If i am not mistaken, once you Salvage for materials (trying for ruby eg in this case), you destroy the item and all mods/inscriptions on it regarless of title.

Dear heavens, if I see the word "Nerf" one more time, I'm gonna kick a wall! (Well, in a delicate and oh-so-ladylike manner, of course! ) The team comes up with a cool new set of inscriptions and somebody's complaining?!

Honestly, some days I just despair!

Read the ideas in this thread. Some of you "get it," and can see the value of these cool new inscriptions (and their parallel in the other regions). Good job on figuring it out. And thank you for gently showing the truth to the "nerf-sayers!"

It's more like adding a feature which was taken away, then reducing it's value, which is completely different than what you are implying.

Maybe "Show me the money" should make people make cash register sounds when they're hit with the weapon

Who's complaining?

EDIT: Oh, the OP...

Personally, I don't mind. I might like it, even.

Actually, most blue items have inscriptions, but they're usually crap. Lots of caster inscriptions on melee weapons, too, for some reason...

Gaile, I'm so glad that my rares will now have the ever so useful "Show Me the Money" inscription instead of a 15^50.

I'll admit the "Measure for Measure" inscription might be useful if there are any weapons you can salvage good materials out of but I'd still have a 15^50 any day. :P (nerfnerfnerfnerfnerfnerfnerf)

PS: Hey Gaile so much for that Elite mission, huh?

People who scream nerf seriously need to be repeatedly shot in sensitive areas with rubber bullets like you'd find in a riot gun.

Bet their opinion on nerfing things will change after that.

Just wear "Nerf" shoes to make it hurt less.

Seriously, I can already see things in PvP that are screaming "NERF ME!" in at least some way. It's to early to tell, but if those need the nerfing and ArenaNet follows through I would expect some whining.

Precious and Highly Salvageable mods being nerfs though? Really, the fact that this thread exists is sad.

If you could refrain from nerfing me specifically, I would appreciate it (15% Fiery Flame Spitter?). If you can manage this, I will stop using the word.

I personally think that this new inscription update could help out newer players when they get a weap.... ARGH I can't keep it up. This update sucks. Who wants inscriptions for Precious and Highly Salvagable, that's just stupid. How about make them on random weapons, and NOT an inscription?

This is just adding more useless stuff to PvE that isn't needed.
